This afternoon found the church furniture rearranged to form a fabulous street party venue commemorating 80 years since DDay. The church was decorated with bunting, tables dressed in Union Jack table cloths and a cream tea of scones, cakes and pots of tea was served on vintage china to every guest that attended. The choir all wore 1940’s fashion including colourful dresses and Land Girl outfits and was accompanied, once again, by the rousing Royal Signals (Northen) Band and the Service Children’s Community Choir.
The music was of that era including ‘We’ll Meet Again’, White Cliffs of Dover’ and finishing with an audience participation of ‘I Vow To Thee My Country’.
A hugely successful and memorable afternoon enjoyed by guests who travelled from all over the UK to be with us.
