WAGS' CHALLENGE!

Walking the length of Hadrian’s wall would probably not be an obvious holiday activity for someone with an unusual heart defect but that is exactly what Sam Graham, one of our fabulous ladies who is also a teaching assistant in Catterick Garrison, is doing in August to raise money for three charities that mean a lot to her, the Military WAGS Choir Catterick Garrison, the British Heart Foundation and the church organ fund from the church in her home town of Aylsham, Norfolk.  Sam suffers from Congenital Transposition of the Great Arteries (or CCTGA for short!), a rare heart condition in which the heart’s lower half is reversed.  As a result, Sam’s heart can change rhythm without warning and she will often need hospital treatment to help it return to normal.

Supporting Sam on her challenge will be her husband Kev, a Police Officer in Catterick Garrison, her father-in-law Colin and some members of the WAGS choir, including our Musical Director Carol Gedye and her husband, William who have been on board from the planning stages.  Sam and Kev’s sons, Dan (24) and Ben (22) who are both serving soldiers, will be the support team responsible for moving the walkers’ kit and setting up camp on each night of the walk.  Their young nephew Jakob Little (age 9) is also joining them but has chosen to raise money for Help for Heroes.

If anyone would like to support in her efforts they can do so by texting MWCC01 and the amount (e.g. MWCC01 £1) to 70070 or by visiting the JustGiving page by clicking on this link:  https://campaign.justgiving.com//charity/military-wagschoir/hadrianswallchallenge
Any monies raised this way will be split equally between the three charities.
