Choir Hightlights
2014
Having had a very busy couple of years the WAGS have decided to scale back a little in 2014 and do fewer performances in order to concentrate on their main aim of providing a fun, supportive welfare organisation for the ladies of Catterick Garrison. Nevertheless they will still be out and about on a regular basis and have exciting projects planned for the year.
24th January: ABF Fundraising Concert, Hartlepool
A very successful concert performed to a full house; not bad so soon after Christmas!
1st February: CD recording day
The WAGS enjoyed a really intense, but fun day of recording of the songs for the soon to be released 'Harmonies for Heroes' CD which is being compiled in conjunction with the local brass bands from Reeth and Muker. Many thanks go to Richmond School for the use of their premises, to World of Sound for their hugely reduced recording rates, and to our local sponsor Mark Stephenson of Second Nature Kitchens for covering the costs of the project in order that all monies raised will go to Phoenix House, the rehabilitation centre for soldiers in Catterick Garrison.
15th February: CD Launch Concert, Richmond School
This was such a fun night for the WAGS. We were hugely proud to perform alongside such consummate professionals as the Reeth and Muker Brass Bands and also enjoyed the support of local musicians during 'Viva la Vida' and 'I Say a Little Prayer'. The show was a sell out and the audience included many local supporters and dignitaries who showed their appreciation and support at the end of the evening with a standing ovation. The WAGS dedicated their singing of 'Dancing with You' to Tracey Howes, a choir member who died earlier this year.
17th July: Strawberries and Song Concert, Richmond Town Hall
The WAGS really enjoyed performing at Richmond Town Hall to both regular and new supporters and hope to return for a concert again in the future. It was a great way to finish the year and we are now all looking forward to a Summer break!
11th October: Spinney Theatre, Northampton
A very successful concert performed alongside Northampton General Hospital Choir in aid of the NGH Chemotherapy Appeal. It was a night away for the WAGS which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. An added bonus was being able to meet up with a couple of past WAGS members who have now moved on and are based in Northampton.
15th November: The Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond
The WAGS had an amazing night at The Georgian Theatre this evening and thoroughly enjoyed performing to a sold out theatre alongside Music and Drama students from Richmond School. Many months of planning and collaboration between the WAGS and the school culminated in an evening enjoyed by all who were involved as well as all who attended the performance. The singing was brilliant and the drama performance very thought provoking.
