Community links

We treasure links with our local communities that have shown us that we are not an island.

Second Nature Kitchens

Our first major business sponsor. Last Spring we wrote to Mark Stephenson, the Chief Executive of Second Nature Kitchens, asking him if he would consider sponsoring some polo shirts for the choir and we were taken aback by his response; to be honest we had expected a rebuff but instead we were met with unconditional warmth and generosity, with him offering not only shirts but entire outfits for each of us. But what touched us more than anything, and what still means a lot to us, is that through his words and actions we came to realise that there is an interested kind community around us which is aware of the fact that life can be tricky for us at times and will offer us support and that knowledge in itself buoys us up, and for that we are immeasurably grateful.

Mark is now one of our Trustees and remains a great backer of the WAGS.

Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai Band, Catterick Garrison

The HC&C Band have proven to be great friends and musical partners of the WAGS, helping us out with their expertise on many an occasion. We hugely value the relationship with have with them.

Richmond Station Singers

The Station Singers and WAGS choirs both share the same musical director in Carol Gedye. When the WAGS were catapulted into the public arena following the Military Wives series on television, the Station Singers not only followed their fortunes with great interest, but also were very understanding when Carol had to prioritise new WAGS concerts, rescheduling some of the Station Singers ones, and finding a deputy conductor for a few rehearsals.

A couple of WAGS have also been Station Singers – the emphasis on none auditioned community choirs, fun and enjoyment at rehearsals being a shared ethos – and many Station Singers can be seen carrying WAGS bags for their choir music.

So far there has been one joint concert back in March 2012 at the Influence Church. However the Station singers provide a loyal following in attending WAGS events. Similarly WAGS can be seen supporting Station Singers concerts so all is mutually beneficial.

Soroptomist International Richmond and Dales

The Soroptomists have also been kind enough to reach out to us as part of their current focus to forge links with girls and women within Catterick Garrison.

Their website is here.

Friends of St Mary’s Church, Richmond

The WAGS have been fortunate enough to collaborate with the Friends of St Mary’s on several occasions and have very much enjoyed working alongside them.

The website for the Friends of St Mary's Church is here.

Zetland Estates

Our most recent link is with Lord Ronaldshay of Zetland Estates who has very kindly sponsored the development of this website. It was a pleasure to meet such a thoughtful and benevolent man. Given his strong interest in music, we hope to enjoy some musical collaborations with him in the future.
